With a background in research and teaching within geography, geomorphology and environmental management, I am seeking work. This may either be as a continuation of my academic career in research or teaching, or in the areas of project management, environmental impact assessment, environmental management or sustainability within applied settings. My expertise encompasses river catchment and coastal systems, remote sensing and GIS, geophysics, and data analysis, all geared towards enhancing environmental management practices. Over the course of my career, I have led and designed projects in these domains, while also overseeing academic design and delivery as part of my teaching responsibilities, including coursework on environmental management and environmental impact assessments during my tenure at Cardiff University.

Teaching Associate In Physical GeographyCardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd Jan 2020 - Aug 2024Cardiff, Wales, United KingdomDuring my time at Cardiff University, I have held a teaching-focussed position primarily within the geography team, though I have contributed across geography and geosciences programmes. I have led teams on key modules, including introductory courses and advanced studies in environmental management and consultancy, coastal and fluvial processes, environmental hazards, geomorphology, I have consistently delivered high-quality instruction both in-class and in the field. Notably, modules under my leadership have achieved exceptional student satisfaction ratings, resulting in multiple nominations for most engaging and uplifting staff member by the students’ union over multiple years. Most recently, I was nominated for ‘Most Impactful and Outstanding Use of Assessment as Learning’ for my assessment which taught students to apply their knowledge to technical and non-technical industry style reports surrounding environmental valuation and environmental impact assessments. In this role I have demonstrated remarkable adaptability, successfully developing a new statistics module within a short timeframe and swiftly transitioned to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining excellence in student feedback for my courses. I have also supervised over twenty excellent dissertation students, several of whom have gone on to PhD research or now themselves work in environmental management or consultancy. -
PhdUniversity Of Sheffield Oct 2014 - Jul 2022Sheffield, United KingdomI successfully defended my PhD in June 2022, which culminated in three published papers fully or partially derived from my research findings, with a fourth manuscript submitted. Titled 'Methodological Approaches to Reconstructing Storms, Relative Sea-Level Change, and Coastal Evolution in the Mid- and Late-Holocene,' my research focused on the reconstruction of coastal morphology, sea level fluctuations, and storm surges. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, I combined sedimentary and historic archives with geophysics, remote sensing and GIS analysis to help improve understanding of coastal flood risk and management in the context of a changing climate. My work has evolved to develop an integrated toolset for correlating past hydrodynamic conditions with morphological changes on decadal timescales. During my research I demonstrated adept project management skills in designing complex research initiatives involving collaborations across academics at my own level and above. -
