Greg Spence joined the Australian Army in February 1977 as a Signals soldier before transferring to the Defence Force Physical Training Instructor stream in 1979. Serving 23 years as a PTI Greg worked at the Officer Cadet School, RAEME Training Centre, Army Apprentices School, Royal Military College Duntroon, District Support Unit Watsonia, School of Army Health, First Field Hospital, and the Australian Defence Force Academy.   Greg worked through the ranks within the PTI stream remarkably acheiving the student of merit accolade for both the Sergeant and Warrant Officer PTI promotion courses to finally achieve the most senior position within the specialst stream as a Warrant Officer Class One (WO1PTI) at the Australian Defence Force Physical Training Instructor School. In this senior PTI role Greg analyzed, designed, delivered, developed and audited the training packages and modules for the Army PTI Suitabilty Course, Combat Fitness Leader Course the Tri Service Basic and Tri Service Advanced PTI courses. On Australia Day 2000 Greg was awarded the Order of Australia Medal OAM in recognition of his exemplary miltary and community service.The OAM award added to Greg's already impressive list of outstanding miltary achievements which includes, most outstanding Recruit from First Recruit Training Battalion, most outstanding Kyaking and Rafting student Adventure Training Centre, Turpie Prize awarded to the most outstanding (Dux) student from the School of Artillery for the year1982.A Commanding Officer Commendation awarded in 1989 for exempary service and another Commanding Officers Commendation awarded in 1995 for successfully appying Life saving CPR and EAR procedures.Greg holds a Diploma of Fitness and Recreation Facility Management, a Certificate III in Road Transport (Motor Vehicle Driving Instruction) a Certificate in Advanced Driving Skills a TAFE Certificate in Small Business Operation. A TAFE Certificate in Swimmimg Pool Operations. Greg discharged in 2002
