I love my job! For more than a quarter of a century, I have been working as a management consultant and nearly all of that time in the company I founded in 1996. Clients, for the most part, have been great to work with and many I consider close friends. In more recent years I have surrounded myself with a growing band of enormously talented and loyal people I’m proud to call my workmates.My work now focuses on forming new and large collaborative ventures that through innovation are expected to differentiate a sector of the Australian economy. I work on the ‘front line’ supporting the engagement of venture partners, assisting with capital raising, quantifying the expected benefits and helping to negotiate the various governance, management and commercial arrangements. I also typically oversee the development of the budget, the internal team as well as the often voluminous documentation. Projects I have been the bid leader or Acting CEO of have now raised over $2 billion in cash for partners and over $4 billion in total resources when in-kind resources are considered. I suspect this is some kind of record?Going forward, I will continue to help create and support exciting ventures that drive prosperity for sectors of the Australian economy. The bigger and more ambitious the challenge the better! Increasingly, I will turn my attention to maximising the commercial success of these ventures and the partners involved. There is enormous potential to achieve better commercial outcomes from these collaborations and I think I'm in the perfect position to make a dent in these opportunities.
