Responsible for custom electrical hardware and low level firmware including both analog and digital hardware for video capture, video processing, interfaces to external devices, user input/output, and audio input/output. The responsibilities include the high level design, schematic capture and layout, or direction of contract manufacturer to do so, working with fabrication and assembly manufacturers to produce the hardware, verifying hardware functionality, writing embedded software, and testing to verify compliance with needed reliability standards such as DO-160. The majority of this work is to extend the capabilities of modular single board computers with Intel processors running Windows.Also responsible for developing or contributing to various small software packages in Linux and Windows.

Responsible for driving product development of a customized differential GPS COTS system and integrating with self designed digital and RF hardware. Designed 500W bi-directional DC-DC software configurable converter. Responsible for design of converter power stage, a 4-switch buck-boost converter, analog and embedded electronic design, and embedded software. The converter is controlled using custom VHDL logic and an Altera Nios-II soft-core in an Altera Cyclone-II. Communication with a central controller determines the operating parameters and operating mode of the converter.

Designed and implemented a process to conduct thermal reliability testing on large quantities of solid state lasers.
