Since its founding in 2006, BRACE has become the single most recognized organization in the United States by FEMA through the Individual and Community Preparedness Awards program. The efforts of BRACE have been recognized with FEMA's John D. Solomon Preparedness Award, the organizations highest recognition for work to prepare the nation. Other categories of recognition have included:Awareness to ActionPromising PartnershipsOutstanding Achievement in Youth PreparednessPreparing the PublicOutstanding Citizen CorpsPreparing the Whole CommunityBRACE serves as the Citizen Corps and Community Emergency Response Team Coordinator for three governmental jurisdictions. The organization coordinated efforts that resulted in the muck-out of 592 homes following a historic flood in 2014. BRACE works with over 500 partner organizations and over 1,000 volunteers to make its community the most disaster resilient in America. Those collaborative efforts and nearly 80,000 hours of volunteer service have restored over 100 homes to a safe, sanitary and functional condition.
