Evaluated potential effects associated with construction, operations and reclamation of the Project, along with existing and approved and planned developments, on terrestrial vegetation, wetlands and forestry resources within the Regional Study Area and Local Study Area. Directed successful completion of terrestrial vegetation, wetlands and forestry component of regulatory approval of several oil sands projects in northeastern Alberta.• Developed reclamation plans in consultation with client and regulators. Provided recommendations to achieve reclamation site closure and led reclamation certificate applications. • Discipline lead for vegetation and rare plant component of pre-disturbance assessments for oil sands projects in northeastern Alberta. Participated in multifaceted team to develop site specific soil handling, reclamation and revegetation plans. • Conducted soil, landscape and vegetation assessments and completed detailed site assessments and oil sands exploration reclamation reports.• Managed wetland assessments as components of biophysical impact assessments for individual clients. Completed wetland assessments summarizing characteristics of wetlands and provided clients with reports summarizing the results and discussion of potential mitigation measures on wetlands. • Initiated long term wetland monitoring programs that involved plot establishment, vegetation surveys and water quality and quantity analyses and wetland monitoring reports to address regulatory requirements and recommend effective mitigation measures. The project involved evaluation of impacts and development of mitigation measures which resulted in development of an inspection and Monitoring Program as part of the City of Calgary’s Quality Management Program.• Complete preparation of biophysical impact assessment and environmental protection plans for residential communities within southeast and northwest Calgary resulting in project designers and engineers finalizing location of development footprint.

Tasks included mapping, detailed vegetation and wetlands surveys, rare plant surveys, and traditional and current use surveys to facilitate cumulative impact assessment and reclamation planning and report write-up describing potential impacts and mitigation measures for an environmental impact assessment.• Discipline lead for vegetation and soils component in support of a conservation and reclamation plan. Tasks included collection of field data on vegetation and soils, recommendations on erosion control, topsoil salvage and appropriate soil handling procedures, and reclamation planning.• Led and prepared an environmental impact assessment to review the environmental impacts of TransAlta Utilities Corporation’s proposal to increase reliability of electrical distribution services in the Town of Banff, Alberta. Scope included collection of field data on vegetation and soils, and impact analyses for terrain and vegetation. Prepared report that outlined mitigation measures to minimize potential impacts from project.
