Assisting the business to navigate the legislation surrounding Natural Resource Management, I have been able to introduce more efficient and effective ways to enhance our compliance with our regulatory and statutory obligations. I have created greater transparency with external contractors regarding environmental process, consolidated and collated data for external reporting and regulatory audit processes. Furthermore, I have re-invigorated relationships with regulators and crown land managers whilst assisting with the businesses move towards a Reconciliation Action Plan and produced tangible relationships with traditional owners and registered aboriginal parties. I am currently working towards regulatory and process change for the industry with formalised agreements with the ministers office. My role also allows me to continually look for opportunities in which the business can improve internally, whilst fostering stronger community relationships, further enhancing the already strong community reputation.

I was engaged by both small and large businesses, to bridge the gap between state and local government bodies and private enterprises with regards to interpretation and compliance of gazetted legislation and policies. This involved significant consultation between private and public entities inclusive of local and state governing bodies, whilst drawing on my strong project management skills due to potentially conflicting timelines, budget requirements and project objectives. As a Senior Forest and Wildlife officer, my role was incredibly dynamic and varied. Being a part of the primary response for the illegal take of Flora and Fauna within the south west region, I was required to co-ordinate responses to public reporting and uphold the integrity of legislation that I was authorised under. This role also allowed me to mentor and lead a team of 4 Forest and Wildlife officers, leading and supporting them to undertake investigations. Throughout my time, I was also required to lead investigations in the governments response to COVID 19 restrictions, which reinforced my ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders and remain accommodating in a constantly changing environment.

Providing the conduit between state government and recreational hunting stakeholders, I was engaged by the GMA, to provide compliance and educational outcomes governed by the Victorian State Government Wildlife Act 1975 and Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012. Throughout my time within the GMA, I was able to increase the GMA’s presence, throughout their full compliance remit in the South West of Victoria, by providing compliance and educational outcomes in areas not previously engaged by the authority.

As an Environment Protection Officer, my role was primarily focused upon upholding the integrity of the Environment Protection Act 1970 and associated gazetted policies. Further to this, I played a pivotal role, linking government, industry and community in all facets relating to environmental performance, sustainability, education and compliance. I was a state-wide asset, utilised by all teams across the state to deliver on key environmental projects, initiate complex investigations and assist with the deliverables outlined within the objectives of the Environment Protect Act.
