When I first started at VGL (Vinyl Graphics Limited), I had no prior knowledge to print, or the print industry. After I left school, I went into an apprenticeship hoping to become a video editor in television production.After being made redundant in my role following the apprenticeship, I needed a new job. I spent some time trying to get back into the TV industry, without any luck. Fortunately, a job became available locally that appealed to my interests. It wasn't the TV industry or video editing, however it looked like something I'd enjoy, even if it was a stepping stone back into the TV industry.Almost instantly I fell in love with print, and I soon learned the many processes and formats that VGL has to offer. Initially it was very tough, understanding and learning an entirely new job, but it's been very enjoyable. Challenging but enjoyable. Growing in a company has really helped my development, and has really opened my eyes to many other elements of print, artworking and design. I have worked on a breadth of projects, from colour matching pieces of Fine Art, London Underground station dominations, to designing stadium graphics for a professional football team.What I enjoy most is retouching and colour matching. I work very closely with a client who offers reproductions/copies of famous artworks for people who are looking to sell their original copies. This is a demanding challenge that I thoroughly enjoy.After almost 8 years in this industry I won't look back.
