This is when employers could face the 40% excise, or “Cadillac tax” if employee benefits are not properly structured (May 2015).Cable TV Franchise Agreement - Successfully negotiated a ten-year cable television franchise agreement with Wave Cable (April 2015)Biennial Budget - Implemented the city’s first biennial budget for 2015-2016 (December 2014)Library Annexation – In conjunction with the City Administrator, we campaigned to annex into the Sno-Isle Rural Library District. The ballot measure was approved by the voters in 2014 and becomes effective on January 1, 2016. This will save the city $300,000 per year in annual library contract costs. Within two years, the District had met its goal of 4-5% cash reserves, saving the District $60k per year in interest costs, but more importantly, its financial standing and bond rating.Grants – successfully applied for two federally funded school nutrition grants.District received $30,000 per year for two years. Negotiations – negotiated several contracts with the four employee groups (Administrators, Certificated, Classified and Unaffiliated), saving millions over what was originally asked for.Student Nutrition Policy – Per State law, all school districts were required to adopt a student nutrition policy that met new, higher standards. Pop machines were removed and/or restricted, fat content reduced, protein content increased, more local fresh fruits and vegetables were offered. The District partnered with PTAs and booster clubs to purchase and install salad bars in the buildings.
