'A Positive Voice' is a radio/podcast/audio stream intended exclusively to showcase the extraordinary stories of entrepreneurs building successful social enterprises in some of the most vulnerable communities and challenging economic environments across the globe. These business and community leaders’ stories are being told by the founders themselves. They come from all over the world, from countries including but not limited to Ghana, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Burkina Faso, France and The United States.The businesses that these very talented individuals have created are being incubated by startup accelerator programs like AFIDBA, AgreenLab, and The Positive Planet Women Founders Accelerator Hub. These programs are being led by non-profit organizations like Positive Planet, together with a diverse set of global partners like La Fabrique, Impact Lab, Innohub, AFD (Agénce Française de Developpement), Bond' Innov, Make Sense Africa, Orange Company, Capgemini, Genpact, among many others.

• Collaborated with regenerative farming certifiers to initiate and achieve Demeter Biodynamic Wine certification• Managed all winemaking operations alongside esteemed vigneron Steven Thompson• Led a sales team to success by implementing new reservation enabling software, resulting inincreased sales and staff enjoyment• Navigated timely logistics and communications with multiple suppliers, customers, and distributors around the United States• Educated visitors on regenerative agriculture practices and natural winemaking

• Assisted winemaker Brian Marcy with fermentation management and grape receival processes• Learned about the intricacies involved with native yeast Pinot noir fermentations across 35+ small lots

• Communicate daily pick schedules and logistics to winemakers, viticulturist, and grower representative• Collect field data for grape analysis, crop estimation, and disease pressure tracking throughout 75 vineyards• Maintain databases pertaining to phenolic characteristics, yields, disease pressures, and sampling data• Allocate and track inventory of 375 macro bins across multiple facilities and vineyards• Research and map soil types for prospective Napa vineyard site• Run brix, pH, and TA analysis on juice samples in order to assist in scheduling picks at desired ripeness• Supervise picks and communicate logistics and fruit quality information to the Orin Swift team• Collaborate with winemaking team and assist with barrel screening, tasting note creation, and bottling

• Monitored and remedied fermentations throughout harvest in both tank and barrel• Completed forklift training and safely assisted throughout all stages of processing• Collected cluster counts and berry samples in Napa and Sonoma estate vineyards while also monitoring phenolics• Ran pH and brix analysis on juice samples in order to forecast ideal picking dates

• Collected berry weights, cluster counts, veraison information, and other field data in order to forecast crop loads• Assisted Napa viticulturists with the seasonal grape yield estimation and maturity analysis throughout 11 different Napa Valley estate vineyards including Stag’s Leap and Beringer sites• Conducted pest and disease surveys and participated in field identification projects alongside viticulturists• Mapped new plantings, site specific vineyard blocks, and soil pit locations using a Trimble GPS unit• Gained an understanding of field grading criteria, iCropTrak software, and vineyard safety practices• Improved my ability to distinguish between desirable and undesirable flavors in many different varieties while in the vineyard

• Assisted head winemaker Franco D’Anna with daily winery activities • Organized picking crews throughout the 80 acre estate property and helped with fruit intake• Monitored Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fermentations from tank to barrel

• Worked with a small experienced cellar team capable of producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc in a modern winery facility• Monitored tank fermentations while also completing the necessary additions, inoculations, pump overs, etc.• Contributed to various winery operations including destemming, sorting, pressing, and bottling• Performed barrel functions such as racking, barreling down, topping, cave inventory logging, branding, and cleaning• Developed an appreciation and tendency towards an organized and cleanly approach to winery work• Managed deficit irrigation by collecting and interpreting leaf pressure chamber readings• Assisted in maintaining viticultural integrity for 40 acres of premium Napa Valley vineyard property

• Analyzed hydrologic data in order to ensure information conveyed in technical reports• Learned about environmental policy under the guidance of an experienced Professional Geologist (P.G.)• Demonstrated knowledge of hydrologic aspects by assisting with the writing and editing of Wellhead Protection Plans• Collaborated with other interns to distribute educational mailers, organize data structure, and streamline workflow
