Greg Vellacott graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Jurisprudence (1978) and a Bachelor of Laws (1979) and was admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 1979.Greg’s main spheres of practice are in commercial conveyancing (examples being acting for sellers and buyers of commercial/industrial properties and negotiating and preparing leases for landlords or tenants of properties such as office complexes and shopping centres) and in advising and assisting the parties to contracts of sale or leases of properties in the exercise or defence of their rights thereunder. Other significant areas of his practice are in respect of trust law, contentious and non-contentious matters in respect of deceased estates and litigation in relation to the testamentary capacity or lack of testamentary capacity of Will makers.Greg has been a member of Law Society of Western Australia committees over the years and he is currently a member of a committee (Community Titles Advisory Committee) advising to the Western Australian Government on strata title matters.In addition to his legal qualifications and experience Greg has been honorary solicitor to the Badminton Association of Western Australia Inc. and was a commissioner (arbitrator) for the Australian Badminton Association Inc.He possessed the highest international qualification as a certificated international umpire with the 160 member nation Badminton World Federation and officiated as an umpire at many world events including Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Olympic Games. He is a member of the Badminton World Federation Appeals Panel.He has been awarded life membership of the Badminton Association of Western Australia Inc., an Award of Merit and Distinguished Service Award from the Australian Badminton Association Inc. and in 2000 he was a recipient of the Australian Sports Medal from the Australian Government.
