I am a Senior Portfolio Manager and Senior Investment Advisor and I run an investment advisory practice within BMO Nesbitt Burns. I have been with the firm for over 20 years. I am a South African by birth and a lawyer by training, so I come to the investment world with a unique set of skills.In my legal profession, I was exposed to a variety of business, personal, tax and estate issues. This experience has allowed me to bring a level of expertise in strategic wealth management when working with my clients. This goes beyond the day-to-day investment management, as we work with business owners on succession plans, entrepreneurs on corporate structure and sale agreements and families on retirement planning and inter-generational wealth transfer and their estates. Having grown up in South Africa, I have lived through Apartheid, the release of Mandela and the growth of a nation. I have lived in the UK, worked in the shipping industry trading commodities, travelled the world with my wife, seen recessions come and go, business successes and failures, the birth of family and the passing of loved ones.
