Farnborough, Hampshire

- Guided multiple aspects of hardware design and test to produce fully functional platforms. Most recently smartphone format designs, this work met timescales set by Programme Management, and ensured each platform was available for customers in time for market demands.- Designed a high CMRR, low offset, low noise, wideband amplifier chain for measuring RF power amplifier supply current and voltage, for an envelope tracking project. Also carried out power supply and thermal design. Identified and mitigated an obscure fault in a high end operational amplifier. These specialist tasks expedited overall project development.- Conceived, developed and progressed two patents: a variable power oscillator (granted in EU and US) and a binary pulse-skipping power supply (granted in US), adding value to company intellectual property.- Designed, simulated and built a discrete Colpitts VCO, developing a technique using copper tape lands to avoid the time and expense associated with formal PCB design.- Assisted with platform RF certification by loading software builds via JTAG and running ATE test systems for multiple standards. Modified test trees and set NV items as required. Used data mining software to generate the graphical results, demonstrating design compliance required by customers.- Undertook project management for a joint venture with a large German company, facilitating and formalising communication between German, UK and US organizations. Gained the PRINCE 2 project management qualification.
