All aspects of Permanant Way plain line design, track formation and drainage design, gauging analysis and S&C design. Recent projets include Grangemouth branch line remodelling (GRIP 5), Borders new railway (GRIP 5), Letchworth Garden City platform extensions (GRIP 4) and Wigan to Kirkby Linespeed Improvements (GRIP 4/5).

• Tilbury Loops Platform Extensions – Lead Engineer and designer for GRIP Stage 4 track realignment designs.
• Intercity Express Programme (IEP) – survey planning, S&C gauging surveys, gauging analysis and optioneering.

• West Coast Main Line Route Section 2 (Rugby to Weaver Junction) - planning and delivery of Design Validation Survey data to assist with track renewal works on a two year project of £2.8M value. The project required.
• Peterborough to Nuneaton W10 Gauge Route Clearance – survey planning, lead surveyor and designer for track schemes following optioneering.
• Oulton Broad Swingbridge - track renewal design to GRIP Stage 5 on the swingbridge using embedded rail.
• Manchester Metrolink Phase 1 Upgrade – member of the track design team for the Bury to Altrincham route.
• Settle to Carlisle Plain Line Track Renewals – survey planning, leading surveys and detailed track renewal designs to GRIP Stage 5 throughout an 18 month contract of £250k value.
• LNE Plain Line Renewals – completion of surveys and designs through to AFC delivery.

• Notable project work undertaken included:
• Assistant Project Manager for Railtrack East Anglia Outside Parties contract, dealing with all aspects of safety management, asset protection and possession planning to facilitate outside parties works affecting the.
• Technical design input for Station Regeneration works on the Settle to Carlisle line.
• Topographical surveys of level crossings for Westinghouse Signals contract.

• Main responsibilities included:
• Providing internal technical services to Customer Service and Station Projects departments, including developing station refurbishment schemes.
• Approval of method statements and designs on behalf of the company for Railtrack Station Regeneration and issuing necessary Site Access authorities.
• Assisting the Projects Manager in specifications for tenant requirements within Station Regeneration schemes.
• Managing the routine quality audits prior to period end invoicing.
• Technical management for the maintenance contract of 306 stations and 5 depots with a value of £1.9M.

• Technical duties included:
• Designing, estimating, planning and undertaking station refurbishment/station development schemes in conjunction with sponsors such as the GMPTE.
• Design and execution of Planned Maintenance to stations and signal boxes, designing platforms of both timber and masonry construction and platform raising schemes conforming to Department of Transport Standards.
• Providing out-based support at the Works/P-Way Engineers depot at Carnforth carrying out track maintenance design, bridge profiling and platform gauging.
