Our latest endeavor had us start by learning Docker, Kubernetes and Kafka. The infrastructure is now in place, and we are busily trying to use Kafka and microservices to integrate systems with similar objects that don't quite agree on how those objects are represented. I've really enjoyed learning about these new technologies! I was so inspired by Docker and how easy it is to manage applications with it, that I ended up dockerizing my home network for practice.

Performance Pay is the time tracking application I was initially brought in to finish. Plant workers in some locations track their work by pulling barcoded slips from the items they're working on. These are later scanned into Performance Pay for tracking and pay calculation.The application was roughly 50% done when I came on board. The biggest challenge was the latency between scans that was introduced by changing the application to be web-based instead of locally executed.

Due to a focus shift, there was no longer a need for me to be team lead. I am now doing more development work and less management, which suits me just fine. It also gave me an opportunity to learn about and write an entirely new firmware for one of our embedded devices that uses Bluetooth LE for communication.

Development and design for AIR, a PHP/CakePHP based web application, and it's accompanying Android application.

Application developer with main focus on current ASP.NET/C# projects as part of current development team. Additionally responsible for maintaining and updating current and legacy applications in PHP, Ruby and Classic ASP. Also responsible for maintenance on Linux servers, email services and DNS hosting.

Started as support technician but quickly moved on to webmaster, network engineer, developer, wireless installer and any other hat I was required to wear. Gained invaluable experience in both customer service and support, networking at the ISP and local level, website design, web application programming and juggling many tasks at once.

Small startup company founded by Bill Jones of Middlesboro, KY, I was brought on as a 50% partner to kickstart the web design and hosting side of the company. I left the company in 2002 to focus on a development career. Although the company is now closed, I gained plenty of experience in website design and scripting (using Perl initially) and running a business. It also gave me the chance to work on the Glacier Girl P-38 Project, whose initial website we designed, maintained and hosted throughout my time with the company.
