This assignment was to increase the operational performance (flow) of engineering, supply chain, and production work packs. Ensuring both product and production improvements were reintegrated into the engineering data pack, ensuring the next vessel receives the benefits.Tools being used: A3 problem solving, root cause analysis, visual management, daily management through team huddles, 5S in both the physical and digital space, project management theory of constraints, process mapping, re-engineering of processes and lean training through games.

Nautic is an aluminium shipbuilder, based in Cape Town, which designs and manufactures innovative patrol vessels and ferries for the African continent. Nautic is owned by Paramount Maritime Holdings (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Paramount Group, the African-based global defence and aerospace business.Nautic began as a shipbuilding project house. I was one of the five founding team members. Michael Bakker (an ex-Damen managing director) our COO was my mentor. Nautic’s first project was a 30m aluminium security patrol vessel for Nigeria. Over the years, Nautic grew organically and through acquisition, from the initial 5 staff in 2009 to more than 450 staff in 2015. We built the business into an industrial maritime group, delivering various solutions into the maritime sector – from vessel design and construction to vessel management and leasing. Nautic delivered a total of 56 vessels over the 9 year period from Sep 2009 – Apr 2018.

Key events and personal achievements· 2015: Oil price crash of Oct 2014 results in Nigerian foreign currency liquidity crisis. I led the successful negotiation of a mutually acceptable solution with Access Bank and the customer in order to complete the $25m project.· 2015: Transnet Port Terminals Award for the best Manufacturing exporter of the year at the Cape Chamber’s awards.· 2016: I was promoted to CEO/Managing Director of Nautic Africa and appointed as a Director on the board of Paramount Maritime Holdings (Pty) Ltd.· 2016: Awarded ISO 9001:2008 in 2014, Awarded ISO 9001:2015 in 2016 – I appointed and led the teams.· 2016: Flagship factory designed and constructed 2015/16 – I appointed and led the team.· 2017: Selected by Discovery Channels Daily Planet to feature the Sentinel 35m.· 2017: Exxon Mobil Nigeria voted the Sentinel 35m the best-performing security patrol vessel operating in its fields (as per client feedback).

Eraco designed and built high-speed aluminium patrol and interception vessels for commercial organisations and governments. Staff complement increased from 10 to 33, from 2007 to 2019.

I worked for One Eighty while taking part in a customised management development program consisting of a partial MBA through the University of Witwatersrand Business School and University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. There were eleven interns in total each being hosted by a Cape Town biomedical company.
