My name is Greg, and I’ve lived with a C6 C7 spinal cord injury since August 25th, 1999—a day that forever changed my life. I grew up with a strong work ethic, instilled in me by my dad, who taught me to work hard, often to the point of exhaustion. I was driven by the desire to provide for my family, working 12 to 15 hours a day, six days a week, surviving on just four hours of sleep. But I didn’t realize that fatigue was slowly taking over my life—affecting my mind, my relationships, and even leading to mistakes at work. Then one early morning, fatigue caught up with me, and in an instant, everything changed. For the last 25 years, I’ve made it my mission to prevent others from going through what I did. I know firsthand how difficult it is to live with a spinal injury, and I’m doing everything in my power to raise awareness about the dangers of fatigue. As an experienced speaker, I’ve given countless talks and presentations with PBF and its affiliates, sharing my story to emphasize the critical importance of sleep and the profound consequences of neglecting it.When I speak to audiences, I connect with them on a deeply personal level. I don’t just talk about statistics or theories—I share my life. I talk about the mistakes I made, the toll it took on my body and mind, and how it impacted my family. I remind people that if you DRIVE WITH FATIGUE you risk your family spending their lives without you—and you without them. But my work doesn’t stop there. I also mentor caregivers, both new and experienced, helping them understand what to expect when entering the world of spinal injuries. Every injury is different, and I use my experience to guide them through the challenges of nerve pain, social integration, and the many nuances of caregiving in this unique community.Pressure sores are another topic I’m passionate about because I’ve spent 10 years of my life bedridden due to these complications. I know how isolating it can be, losing your social circle and feeling alone. That’s why I speak openly about this often-overlooked issue, helping others navigate the physical and emotional challenges it brings. My journey is one of resilience, and I’m committed to doing everything I can to prevent others from experiencing the pain and challenges that come with spinal injuries. Whether I’m on stage delivering a talk, mentoring a caregiver, or simply sharing my story, my goal is to make a difference—one person at a time.
