My responsibilities involve driving the strategic direction and consistency across infrastructure and delivery platforms across all products in the APAC region. - Perform site reliability and capacity planning for SaaS online identity verification system handling ~2.2 million identity verifications per month. - I help maintain ISMS for continued ISO27001 certification and compliance for a SaaS identity verification product. - Implemented a terraform repository used for multiple products based on CIS Level 1 cloud security benchmarks. - Wrote python and golang programs to automate regular tasks such as firewall audits and jira ticket creation. - Maintained a Splunk cluster to support log aggregation and SaaS observability.

In this role I oversaw 2 software development squads and one infrastructure/operations squad. Migrated a SaaS identity verification solution from a traditional infrastructure platform to a cloud based kubernetes platform (AWS EKS). I developed a collection of ansible roles that were used to managed ~250 servers, installing software, security patches etc. Developed Jenkins based automated deployment pipelines, as well as CI pipelines focussed automated unit and integration tests. Developed capacity planning and management strategies to strive for 100% uptime and rightsizing of infrastructure. I also performed load testing of SaaS online identity verification service and developed strategies to prepare and manage high volume periods. Managed a Splunk cluster for log aggregation across several SaaS systems in multiple regions worldwide for central observability, monitoring and alerting.

My responsibilities include making and implementing technical system design and architectural decisions and managing a team of software developers. I have designed and implemented a highly available, scalable SaaS service in several regions worldwide using Amazon Web Services as well as more traditional VPS data centres. These systems verify the identity of indivduals and businesses. In this DevOps based role I have worked with a wide range of languages such as Java, Javascript, golang, python, shell scripting and technologies such as JBoss, SpringBoot, Play framework, vuejs, ansible, kubernetes, general linux system/network administration and many facets of Amazon Web Services.

In this position I worked as part of a small team to develop a complex J2EE application that provides an identification verification service for corporate customers. The application is served via Enterprise Jboss AS and heavily uses Java EE 5 technologies such as Seam and EJB3.

This position primarily involved (80%) implementing software for use on a variety of telescopeinstruments, but also involved a component (20%) of system administration and help desk support for the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) computer network. The code that I was required to write spanned a diverse range of languages and technologies and included JAVA (Jboss, OpenMQ), C++/C (ranging from high level distributed multi-threaded object oriented code to lower level code such as UNIX (Solaris) device driver development). The majority of my time was spent on the development of automated/remote observing software for the telescopes. I also maintained a web based timesheet system which kept track of people's work hours, leave etc and also interfaced to Microsoft Project. The system was written using PHP and MySQL. The system administration component included maintaining a variety of servers: Web (Apache), mail (sendmail), File (samba, NFS), as well as user accounts (NIS+ and LDAP) and general user desktop help.

My duties here included speaking with visiting observers and then helping them configure the telescope equipment to best meet their observational requirements. I would also be required to explain the workings of the telescope components to the observers.
