Areas of expertise include:-Integrated IP Strategies-Global IP Management-Patent Preparation and Prosecution -IP Agreements -Client Counseling-Talent Development of IP Professionals-Federal Government Rulemaking• Develop and assist in the implementation of integrated IP strategies utilizing all forms of IP, including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, licensing and research agreements, and defensive and strategic publications, to provide the business competitive advantages.• Advise on the forms of IP protection available and how each provides a competitive advantage as to a particular technical development.• Extensive experience in managing IP for embryonic to well-established technologies and products, including from a corporate R&D perspective to a line division view.• Draft and prosecute patent applications for global markets.• Prepare legal opinions and analyses of competitors’ patents, including non-infringement, validity, and prior user rights.• Evaluate the IP of potential acquisition targets and how that IP aligns with client business interests.• Draft and negotiate IP agreements, including confidential disclosure agreements, license agreements, and joint development agreements.• Conduct trade secret assessments and audits.• Oversee the corporate-wide IP interests on U.S. Government R&D contracts, including advising clients from the initial white paper or proposal through contract closeout, as well as, develop associated educational materials, and model documents and procedures for contract compliance.• Lead and participate in teams of IP professionals and/or business people to further the use or effectiveness of IP in providing a competitive advantage and achieving key businessgoals.• Provide other general legal advice and represent the company in matters relating to intellectual property law.• Train, develop, and mentor IP professionals, including those new to the field or the company.

Co-taught IP courses: “Intellectual Property Survey” (1998) and “Patent Preparation and Prosecution” (1999-2010). These courses not only covered the underlying law, but also thepractical “hands-on” application of the law.
