Mindfulness and Stress Reduction can extend your life. I work with clients to reduce stress increase resiliency using evidence supported practices and technologies that are complementary to all health regimens. My journey began with a life-threatening illness at the age of 50, leading me away from a successful business practice to find healing traditions. I studied the practices of the Peruvian shamans for over seven years, eventually seeing that healing is my calling. Today, my life is dedicated to using my knowledge to empower others in practicing mindfulness and learning how to manage stress in their life, regain their balance and live to their full potential. Specifically, I specialize in supporting those coping with cancer. Indigenous practices around the world view disease as an imbalance of energy — a phenomenon brought about by our stressful daily life.Science sees this energy imbalance through tests such as heart rate variability, blood tests, and blood pressure, and the results are often the first indicators of disease as well as predictors of future outcomes. Western medicine effectively treats symptoms of disease with appropriate technology and interventions such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Traditional energy healing practices are complementary with western medicine, allowing the person to regain balance and wellbeing, reducing stress and inflammation. Seeking an understanding of how western medicine/science and indigenous energy therapies can be integrated, I am a Ph.D. candidate in Integrative Medicine. There is now an abundance of clinical research studies (over 6,000) on energy healing practices, showing them to be an effective complement to conventional medicine, improving quality of life and health outcomes.
