About Greg Bear

I’m a lifelong entrepreneur focused on social enterprise and technology services. I am currently incubating my fifth company (or sixth, if you include Greg’s Reliable Workers, my high school landscaping business). In 2022, I sold Bear Group, the successful technology services company I had built over the previous 16 years, and I serve on the board of the new entity. Earlier ventures included two VC-backed companies, World2Market and RealSelf. Carbon Tree Ranch is a new carbon sequestration and forestry social enterprise. It blends my background in operations and technology with an interest in climate impact at the household level. I enjoy advising newer entrepreneurs on building healthy companies with strong, sustainable operational models.

Our social enterprise, World2Market, was funded by Madrona and other local VCs and grew quickly with amazing PR. We were Bill Clinton's first online shopping experience!This was an incredible experience for students looking to do good in the world. Our business model was buying goods from developing countries, partnering with Peace Corps, Grameen Bank, and other economic development programs, and providing an online marketplace to create exposure for small artisans and economic development programs around the world. I led the technology team but the four founders all wore many hats.
