My career was shaped largely by joining Cooley Godward in 1981, in the pioneer days of Silicon Valley, doing venture financings and IPOs. Although the work was plentiful and varied, I needed an appreciation for what went on inside business, and I left Cooley to serve as General Counsel of a client, UB Networks, where I took on negotiating relationships with suppliers, technology developers, distributors, end users, executives and employees, while helping with several key acquisitions and ultimately the company's sale to Tandem Computers. I returned to private practice in the late 80s with a much broader appreciation of the pressures, priorities and concerns of growing businesses. I have built my practice helping entrepreneurs in setting up and restructuring their companies, raising equity and debt capital from venture capitalists, institutional investors and angel investors, buying and selling businesses, product development and distribution and technology licensing. I founded Veritas Corporate Law in 2012 to bring senior corporate expertise to start-ups and growth companies, and to anyone engaged in buying or selling a private business.
