Led the communications strategy and operations for 18F and later served as product owner for the website and blog. Supported other teams to research user experience and needs as well as write and produce content for public facing public services. For the cloud.gov team in particular, participated in FedRAMP documentation activities and led customer communication strategy.

At the CFPB, was the primary developer responsible for consumerfiance.gov. I led the effort to limit the risk of the WordPress application to the agency by breaking out functional pieces into separate components that could be managed and deployed discretely, with a focus on stability and performance. As the Account Lead, managed relationship with the COR and other key stakeholders at our agency, as well as four of our team’s developers.

I taught reading, math, and phonics to first- through fourth-graders at one of the oldest and largest hogwons in all of South Korea. The Jeongbal Campus of Korea POLY School welcomes returnee, and gifted and talented elementary school students in the Jeongbal Station area of Ilsan, a district of Goyang, Korea, to augment their education in the public schools at an elite English academy featuring teachers primarily from North America, but also other English speaking places around the world, who emulate a western classroom and instill a sense of lifelong learning into their students.

Conducted initial interviews with first year, sophomore and junior students interested in studying abroad as well as informational meetings explaining the study abroad application process; assisted with study abroad application procedures and with programming for returning students; prepared promotional material and a handbook for students interested in studying abroad as part of Gustavus' Exchange program with United International College in Zhuhai, China.

Developed and participated in the pilot of an international journalism program exploring new media in the form of a weekly podcast kept by students studying abroad in attempt to better document the essence and value of study abroad to a well rounded education.

I wrote press and news releases, letters to the editor, and op-ed pieces for members of the House DFL Caucus. In addition to learning how to write more succinctly and shape messages, I also observed many press conferences and briefed DFL leadership on their content. Through this observation I became more cognizant of the news gathering process and how reporters decide what questions to ask during a press availability.

Rescued a radio station facing certain failure and simultaneously modernized and expanded it's production capabilities to transform the station from it's previous existence as a glorified jukebox into an informational and cultural resource. As part of this expansion I led the charge in buying and constructing two Pro Tools LE based studios and exploited popular online resources like live streaming, podcasting, and social networks to provide more opportunities for our student staff to produce high quality productions distributed to a nearly infinite potential audience. The job was as much managerial and political as it was technical.
