I am passionate about automation and using technology to improve people's quality of life and benefit society. I am an engineer that is happy to dive into the nitty gritty, whether it means debugging multi threaded unit tests, or taking a logic analyzer to a malfunctioning vision processing board to understand why the camera triggering is failing.I have experience managing external vendors: working with sensor suppliers, embedded compute companies, and contract software engineers.I have been leading teams of engineers for over 4 years. My strengths as a leader are helping to facilitate communication between engineers and other parts of the organization. I am able to work with customers to understand their needs, and have experience helping operations teams work with software developers to make sure new features are meeting our customers needs.I am passionate about helping the people on my team grow. I have helped to coach some people from being interns into senior engineers, and have helped others move into people management positions. I encourage the people on my team to look at their projects wholistically, to help them understand that more than just delivering working code, they need to meet the needs of their users and have empathy for their customers when helping to debug problems.In all of my jobs, I want to be contributing to goals that are a net gain for society, projects that help reduce energy consumption, increase safety, promote healthy communication, or help improve people's health or quality of life.
