CurrentI have more than 20 years’ experience in the operational technology arena, most of it spent in managing real time systems support teams; managing a 24 hour gas distribution control room; and managing projects in utilities and telecommunications organisations – particularly related to network management systems. I have assisted utilities to implement and enhance network management systems, both as an in-house expert and as a project manager representing a large range of vendors. I have a passion to assist utilities to obtain the best from their operational technology to achieve significant benefit to the organisation.My skills include the development of business cases, user requirements analysis, preparation of detailed technical specifications, conduct of technical, commercial and contractual evaluations, and project management of complex technology implementation projects. Areas of expertise include: ● A strong understanding of the challenges facing utilities and the pressures they are operating under – from direct experience.● Distribution Management Systems applications for power distribution utilities including network modelling and analysis, trouble call analysis, outage management, network switching and access, load management, network automation, and integration between business systems (CIS, GIS, DMS, SCADA, historian, customer web portal). ● SCADA systems applications for large electric power networks, gas networks (transmission and distribution), and water and waste water networks.● Smart Grid strategy development and technology assessments● Involvement with the smart meter rollout for a number of Victorian Electricity Distributers.● Strong interest in security for OT systems● Management of a Y2k remediation project for a large Telco.● Past committee member for development of Australian SCADA standards
