Principal, Gis Specialist
CurrentProvide GIS support, situational awareness and intelligence to Army headquarters, warfighters and range and training land managers worldwide. Create, analyze, manage, and distribute geospatial data, aerial photography, imagery and map products for use across desktop, mobile and online platforms. Complete GPS data collection, data editing, and integration. Conduct geospatial data processing, spatial analysis, scripting and model development. Develop, test and publish customized GIS toolsets and applications designed to assist military training and range safety.Lead and oversee program-wide production of standardized range, training and installation maps. Coordinate and develop map production strategy documentation. Develop and execute a standardized QA/QC plan for the review of map products. Work extensively with cartographic design techniques, mapping accuracy standards and metadata standards. Coordinate map printing and stocking with other federal agencies. Utilize SharePoint to upload and maintain current map inventory and map production strategy documents, files, and toolsets. Extensive knowledge and experience working with and developing GeoPDF files. Prepare and present technical GIS training sessions and briefings on a variety of topics to a wide range of audiences and knowledge bases. Deliver timely and accurate technical support, customer service, and troubleshooting in response to end-user requests.Supervise daily operations in the office. Train and mentor junior-level staff on geospatial data creation, map production, technical support and reporting. Report progress on projects and tasks to manager. Write and publish articles highlighting program accomplishments and developments. Research GIS extensions, enhancements and functionality improvements. Provide budgetary and planning guidance to management in support of upcoming contracts.
