Profile bio

About Greg Esnouf Afsm

I have extensive experience as a senior executive in emergency management and land management developing and implementing strategic initiatives, working collaboratively with stakeholders, leading and building teams, and bushfire management. I have extensive experience in forestry and land management, and in particular bushfire management. My key recent achievement was to lead the DELWP Strategic Fuel Breaks program, to deliver 1,500km of fuel breaks to enhance community safety and improve fire response effectiveness and safety. This required extensive management acumen and leadership skills to successfully deliver the project in tight timeframes and a complex policy environment. Prior to that, I led the Australian Fire Danger Rating Systems program and the National Burning Project, both of which were complex national programs involving extensive collaboration and high level program management skills . Other key achievements are developing a comprehensive performance improvement program that increased safety and effectiveness of firefighters, leading a taskforce working with the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission to develop new programs to improve public safety after the tragic 2009 Black Saturday bushfires that killed 177 people, and re-energising and refocussing a dispirited management team and supporting staff and volunteers with low morale and into a high performance team.I am also an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide that specialises in small group private tours exploring the history and culture of Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Listed skills include Emergency Services, Emergency Management, Disaster Response, Policy, and 15 others.
