Sustainability is both my vocation and my avocation: my background in science and my understanding of our shared humanity calls me to seek comprehensive solutions to the environmental and social challenges facing organizations. My work remains grounded in science, as a tool for understanding the challenges we face and for identifying solutions; moreover, I ground my work in the importance of justice and equity for all people as outcomes of truly sustainable solutions.To me, sustainability is a twe are successful in pool and a goal, a philosophy and an outcome. It is a way to address complex challenges. Forging sustainability creates the conditions for human success and advancement while mitigating the consequences of short-term thinking. Sustainable solutions should improve equity, health, and opportunity for people and the ecosystems they call home. I am a passionate leader with a strong track record of initiating meaningful change. I have helped colleges and universities develop renewable energy projects, watershed improvements, waste mitigation strategies, and more. I have been responsible for sustainability initiatives at the campus, regional, and state scales. Along the way I have saved institutions money, developed new degree pathways, and worked with students, faculty, staff members, boards of trustees, and alumni to make institutions more sustainable. I am also an award-winning teacher with a long history of innovation and effectiveness in the college classroom. I teach by building relationships with students.
