Having started in financial services as an adviser in March 1988 I chose to move into management mid-90's going through the ranks of Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Area Manager, culminating in Business Centre Manager for the North West with 100+ advisers over 5 branches. This was all done under the umbrella of Sun Life Financial of Canada and when they withdrew from the UK market in 2001 I formed Alexander Calder Financial with a business partner. The business grew to over 20 advisers by 2010 when we chose to focus back on one office and a quality of life. We now have 6 advisers who 'self-manage' and deliver quality client service with the help of 7 staff. I enjoy every day at work by focusing on client activity and do over 500 1-2-1 pension review meetings each year with group pension clients. I have held non-executive director roles in other businesses helping grow one from a one man band to over 400 associates UK wide which was then sold to a Plc. I currently hold 7 directorships offering support to a variety of businesses but nothing takes a greater priority than my financial services clients. One of my proudest achievements is organising charity golf events that have raised over £75,000 for local childrens charities and included taking 80+ people over to Spain for 5 days to the famous La Manga resort.As a firm we work with a select number of bespoke investment managers giving our clients access to specialist support, where appropriate, and we continue to develop and evolve our service and proposition to meet the ever changing needs of our clients.
