Responsibilities and related activities:• report directly to Head of School and serve on Committee of Five and Administrative Team• oversee academic and co-curricular programs for grades 5-8• supervise student and faculty life on a day-to-day basis• develop, implement and conduct professional development and evaluation programs for faculty• mentor and train faculty in educational technologies, classroom management, student development, and curriculum development• communicate with parents on wide range of academic, social and emotional topics• coordinate a formalized and successful advisory program• provide support related to student transitions to and from the Division• initiate and direct hiring processes for Middle School faculty and staff• supervise Middle School Administrative Assistant• plan, manage and operate a continuously balanced Middle School Division budget• serve on various committees, including: Academic Program, Admissions, Retention, Health & Safety • serve as liaison for Pittsburgh-Mt. Oliver Intermediate Unit (IU) psychologist for coordination of preK-12 testing; serve as liaison between Middle School faculty/parents and consulting/IU psychologists • create and update Middle School and General sections of the School Handbooks• manage school-wide crisis response plan; coordinate and distribute emergency/crisis information and procedures, including creation of a weather emergency plan• maintain Middle School intranet web pages, monitor Internet pages on Ellis web site, Haiku

Responsibilities and related activities have included:• development and implementation of 6th and 8th grade history curricula and “For 8’s Only” program • development and implementation of 8th grade advisory program• conception, implementation and coordination of 8th grade laptop program (began in 2000)• conception, design and implementation of web-based, international, collaborative project called “Global Perspectives” as a 7th & 8th grade club, then elective (1999-2013)• conception, design and implementation of an Internet site of teacher resources called “INformED”• creation and implementation of Middle School culture survey and student feedback instruments for faculty and administration self-evaluation and development • active participation in a variety of committees, including: instructional technologies, academic program, student retention, website re-design, Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) self-study (chair), and student leadership• service as mentor teacher• service as accreditation evaluator for Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (through 2013)• faculty representative on search committee for Head of School • member of Faculty Association’s salary & benefits committee • advisor for Student United Nations (Upper School)• head coach of varsity softball (Upper School)• interim Intructional Technologies Director (school-wide)• assemblies coordinator (Middle/Upper School)
