About Gregg Alfonso Abbang

Gregg Alfonso G. Abbang is a Museum Researcher II at the National Museum of the Philippines' Archaeology Division. He was a research specialist of Casa de Memoria (now Palacio de Memoria), a Parañaque-based auction house specializing in European and Asian objet d'arts and antiques, and a former part-time faculty member of the San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite's College of Arts, Sciences, and Nursing. He taught for three semesters at the latter and handled Social Sciences courses—Philippine History, Rizal, Society and Culture, and Arts Appreciation. He also served as an assistant curator of the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies' Museo Maritimo for two years. Mr. Abbang holds a bachelor's degree in History, which he obtained from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He is pursuing a master's degree in Anthropology at the University of the Philippines Diliman. His research interests are mainly focused, but not restricted, on the precolonial Philippines, historical archaeology, ceramic studies, cultural and historical anthropology, anthropology of space and place, museum studies, and local and oral history.
