My firm represents several advanced technologies for chemical measurement (research, engineering and manufacturing). Real-time, applied analysis is accomplished through new levels of engineering that utilize optical based systems such as UV, Visible, NIR, IR and Raman spectroscopy. These systems, often application engineered, are used in R&D and process research. Instrumentation versions for Process Analytical property and chemical monitoring contribute to Quality Improvement Programs. Scale-up for full commercial & production monitoring is the final target of these systems..

Guided Wave invented the first commercial fiber optic based spectral based monitoring instruments back in 1983. Since then they engineered a wide range of spectral monitoring chemical analysis systems, fiber optic coupling cables and In-Situ optical probes of a variety of metals and polymers. Involved with the utilization of Applied NIR for QC lab & Process monitoring of industrial petrochemical & polymer production systems. Guided Wave develops & manufactures NIR instruments for routine, in-line monitoring. Since beginning my business in 1984, it has been my privilege to assist with the emergence of modern Process Analytical tools such as this. Specialized monitoring technology also exists for H2O2 vapor for sterilization, decon and viral deactivation. These systems also provide robust real-time analytics during vacuum operations for specialized medical and personnel sterilization. Guided Wave also offers a high performance, multi-wavelength dual beam Photometer named ClearView. It utilizes their precisely engineered in situ Flow Cells, Optical Probes and Gas/Vapor monitoring interfaces for long-term, real-time analysis.

While working with sophisticated spectrometers for applied use, we offer Ocean Optics equipment as a way to assist on simpler projects including color analysis, radiance, UV-NIR mini spec applications, or just for education. Ocean Optics continues to develop extensions to their offerings and technologies and implemented significant manufacturing improvements second half 2015.

Helped pioneer applications for Industrial Pharmacy, Specialty Chemical and Polymer Process Applications.In situ process analytics provided the basis for improved operations, process control and greater yield. Process Raman offers the advantage of chemical specificity in the midst of water based process media.

Project involved application engineering for several chemical industries. Also helped to launch NIR monitoring technology into the Pharma industry. Chief initial application was id and qualification of incoming raw materials prior to custody transfer. With the global shift to 100% raw material testing, this technology provided the rapid ID needed to accommodate so many samples inspections.

Helped build this small company through expansion of existing and new instrumentation concepts. Split the company into two divisions, analytical and catalyst evaluation. Facillitated merging with a large company then started Prochem Scientific, my activity to this day.
