Helping groups and individuals get on with what they’re good at and excited about brings me joy. When you focus on the important projects and goals and minimize the annoying chores you add more value and gain greater satisfaction. I call that “Noble Selfishness.”As a longtime solopreneur, my company provides two main services: (1) group facilitation for leadership teams, councils, boards, and departments, and (2) personal coaching (what I call “behind-the-scenes support”) with a special emphasis on “emerging leaders.”1: My facilitation is customized for optimal results as I learn beforehand the leader and group's context issues and desired results. My "4 Lights" communication model helps set the stage for high-level communication as groups talk openly about their relevant and/or difficult issues. Selected handouts and worksheets (among the 100 or so I've created) spark creative discussions. I also have that strange combination of skills and personality that help me turn any session event into a learning and/or teaching opportunity. As a former award-winning journalist and published author (“Beyond Chaos”), the workbook contains 43 short pieces with corresponding Action Worksheets designed to serve as springboards for application by new managers or first- or mid-level managers who seek to climb the manager/leader ladder. I follow up all my coaching sessions -- for emerging leaders, executives, individual contributors, and problem performers -- with written summaries.
