Performance Management During the past three years, I have worked as a member of a business unit team whose primary responsibility was defining, developing, testing and deploying an agency wide performance management system. This effort includes the following tasks: o A web based application that provides access to a consolidated and consistent source of current and historical performance information.o A metric metadata repository that provides, among other items, consistent terminology, performance goals, and line of responsibility information.o A relational reporting and analysis framework that provides rapid and consistent access to current and historical performance information. Performance Measurement ServicesThe practice focused on, but was not limited to, applications involving Cognos’ Metric Studio and Report Studio. Specifically, we o Developed and deployed operational and balanced scorecards. We also brought existing scorecards into the Cognos platform. Once there, the information can be integrated and enhanced with additional information and displayed in a number of formats throughout the organization.o Created reporting solutions that replace or enhance existing reporting frameworks. These projects usually revolve around new installations of Cognos’ Cognos 8 platform and can cover all functional areas (Finance, Operations, Human Resources, etc.) of an organization. Cognos Metric Studio/Report Studio Solutions During my time at Cognos I had the opportunity to work on several projects that led to the creation of scorecard and reporting solutions. Specifically, Io Worked with a Midwestern health care provider to create additional reporting functionality for and enhance the capability of a balanced scorecard already running on a Cognos platform. The new reporting functionality allows management to closely monitor organizational performance as they move to tie compensation with departmental performance.o Worked with an IT services organization to develop a solution that allows institutes of higher education to actively evaluate the performance of the admissions process. This solution provides monthly performance information against targets for specific strategies, goals and metrics associated with the admissions process.o Worked with a major southeastern utility to transfer a scorecard reporting system into Cognos’ Metric Studio and to produce reports in a format identical to existing reports for display on their organization’s intranet. The scorecard application contained 30 unique scorecards and over 150 unique metrics as well as supporting documentation for each metric.
