John Gregory, Opencity Inc., is a seasoned medical writer, editor, and project manager. A former global marketing communications director and journalist, who has spent more than 30 years working in Canada, UK, USA, and Sweden. He has a reputation for getting stuff done and is widely known for recent health care publications for organizations, including NSWOCC, ORNAC, CFMHN, SCIO, ASCN UK, and WoundPedia. Specialist medical fields of wound care, ostomy, continence, spinal cord injury, safe patient handling, and perioperative nursing. John is the technical writer and project manager for multiple Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC) projects, including the NSWOC Standards, preoperative stoma site marking position statement, urinary diversions position statement, parastomal hernia best practice recommendations, intermittent catheterization recommendations, wound debridement best practice recommendations, and paediatric-incontinence associated dermatitis. He was the lead author of the University of Manitoba & Spinal Cord Injury Ontario report "Identifying Jurisdictional Gaps in Providing Essential Attendant Services, Medical Supplies, and Assistive Devices Needed by Canadians Living with Spinal Cord Injury," published in 2022. This year, he has been a co-author of the "Development of a decision aid for nurses supporting urinary catheter selection" and "Wound Bed Preparation 2024: Delphi Consensus on Foot Ulcer Management in Resource-Limited Settings." John has acted as ORNAC Standards Coordinator for the 15th, 16th, and 17th editions. He is co-author of the poster at the 2023 ORNAC conference in Quebec City titled Improving the Quality of the ORNAC Standards. He has just completed the CFMHN Standards 5th edition in English and French. At Smith & Nephew, John led the original development of the wound bed preparation concept and TIME paradigm through an international advisory board. John held director-level country and international roles at Arjo, where he developed the Diligent Consulting pressure ulcer prevention program. John is an IIWCC and ISWA graduate. He is part of the WoundPedia team project managing WBP2024. He is a member of the IIWCC Faculty for 2024. Outside health care, John is an acclaimed international canoeing sports journalist.
