In this role I integrate my experience as a visual designer within the Capability Branch communications team to deliver design solutions that highlight the work of the department’s ‘Education Futures Institute’ (EFI) initiative. As well as marketing and communications, I work with teams to produce designs and materials for online training programs as follows:• Create marketing materials such as brochures, banners, email graphics and flowcharts• Design branded interfaces in Canvas for the EFI flagship programs• Design EFI interfaces and assets for the departments intranet.• Produce presentation slideshows for management to promote and communicate the EFI initiatives• Update graphic assets for departmental staff online training programs• Illustrate medical and technical graphics and designs for the state schools student health program• Produce user-interface designs for online training courses including original branding designs, style guides, interactive solutions, illustrations and animations that align with course concepts and briefs.

In this multi-faceted design role, I work along-side management, project teams and training facilitators to produce original designs for online training programs and marketing as follows:• Produce user-interface designs for online training courses including original branding designs, style guides, interactive solutions, illustrations and animations that align with course concepts and briefs• Work closely with internal project teams including writers and leads to deliver visual solutions in the form of customised illustrations and diagrams, interactive elements and motion graphics and animations• Design and deliver print and PDF products for internal and external branch initiatives including multi-page documents, flyers and posters including custom graphics and photo treatments• Communicate clearly and professionally to all staff within the branch and across the department to access and provide information to achieve positive outcomes• Self-manage complex design projects from end to end ensuring client expectations, competing priorities and demands for products are met and delivered on time to a high standard• Provide advice and expert solutions to branch staff on all aspects of graphic design and multimedia, communication tools, publishing processes and procedures and scheduling and the correct application of the Queensland Government corporate identity and the Department’s visual style guide• Support and share knowledge with design colleagues and other staff as well as provide and accept feedback to help solve problems and enhance relationships.• Maintain up to date knowledge and skills in graphic and multimedia design and the production of communication and marketing materials using contemporary publishing and design platforms.

Curriculum into the Classroom (C2C) develops and delivers primary and secondary school curriculum materials to teachers and students throughout Queensland. My role involved the following creative and functional tasks:• Create customised visual content in the form of original illustrations, designs and animations for integration into written content that aligns with the Australian Curriculum• Liaise and communicate with content writers to establish and confirm the intent of specific subject briefs and their timelines• Ensure that the content is appropriate for the intended age group (year level) and that the illustration or design is original and suitable for copyright• Assess writers’ briefs and create high quality, original images and designs using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and Flash for animation• Self-check to ensure that content is accurate and have writers approve drafts and finished content and make changes as required at those stages• Keep to timetables, accurately time-track each brief and document data of completed jobs• Provide advice to writers and staff on visual solutions, help fellow artists with technical issues, keep up-to-date with graphics applications and expand knowledge with training opportunities.
