Having completed my PhD last year, I consider myself an adventurer in the complexity sciences, especially in its application to economics and finance. Related to this, I've been assessed as 'high capability’ on the Elliott Jaques Human Capability scale, which means I have a strong capacity for strategic thinking. To me this means immersing myself in an intricate problem space and working with others to move forward collaboratively.Drawing on a wide range of experience, including a blend of traditional and alternative asset management and a mix of public and private sector, I have developed a robust understanding of economics and asset management. I find the whole world a fascinating place and have enjoyed poking it over the years. More recently, I learned to code as part of a PhD programme, and this allows me to place myself at the nexus between theory, practice, and computational modelling. My more grounded strengths include being an empathetic communicator and networker, which makes me an asset in raising funds, if that's called for. Also, I like to combine the 'high theory’ of the complexity sciences with being grounded in practice, making me pragmatic and connected to the aims of organisations I choose to work for.I am most passionate about combining the complexity sciences with asset management. The former has revolutionised many fields in academia, including economics, and it surprises me that relatively few people are using it in asset management. Metaphorically, it's like sticking to classical physics when the relatively and quantum revolutions are underway. There's gold (and probably crypto) in them thar hills!
