This newly created role was an expansion on my previous role where on top of the usual CIO responsibilities I had the additional responsibilities of Graphics, Library and Records Management in my portfolio. I was recruited specifically to improve the ISKM services and establish a strategic Digital vision for Manaaki Whenua. It’s been an exciting and dynamic role providing Digital services for not only the Core Science Research business but also provision of E-commerce systems and support for the subsidiary commercial companies of CarbonZero, Environmark and Sirtrack.Manaaki Whenua is New Zealand’s foremost Environmental Science Research and Consultancy company where the innovative use of Technology has transformed the business, leading to Revenue growing by $34 million over the last five years. Implementation of new Technology and systems such as M365, ERP, LiDAR, Drones, IoT, VR, AI, HPC & High speed networks has enabled new Research techniques and over 500 staff spread through-out NZ to work remotely while still being able to collaborate and access required systems & data as though they are in the office. Manaaki Whenua has also been at the forefront of NZ CRI’s in creating science facing online data and web-services to improve delivery to our customers.Managing a small internal team I lead a partnership approach with key vendors to utilise their specialist expertise and services to enable a step-change in the way Digital services were delivered, by rapidly implementing a range of new Technology services including moving all on-premise services to CCL Datacentres in Auckland and Christchurch. This partnering approach and transition to Cloud delivered systems & Infrastructure Services has sped up the delivery of IT services and improved workflows, collaboration & data access for Manaaki Whenua’s mobile workforce while providing the necessary reliability, cyber-security and flexibility for staff to work in different ways when and where they want.

My own business Growing and Harvesting 4.5 acres of Asparagus supplying the local market via MG Marketing and also exported to Japan.

My first CIO role where I was responsible for the Strategic Information Planning & Services for this start-up national Airline. Involved developing Strategic Information System plans aligned with Business objectives, and rapid delivery of new innovative systems and 24x7 services to obtain competitive advantage against Air NZ while minimising IT support costs.

Started work for DEC's Application Development Centre in Christchurch as a Software developer and progressed through to Programme Manager, running 2-3 national projects at once. Extensive project management training provided by DEC used by me to manage National projects including world first implementation of PROMIX Process Manufacturing System and Financials at South Island Dairy Farmers Corporation in Canterbury.Great company to work for where I had one of my best managers ever, earned two National Project management awards and Circle of Excellence award for Customer service presented to me in Bangkok, Thailand at the DEC Asia Pacific awards ceremony.

First job straight out of University cutting code and progressed through to Sales Support. Involved analysing and documenting Clients Business requirements through to the design and implementation of solutions such as GST changes for Legal Software, Support & enhancement of Pioneer Command ERP Software, and development of bespoke Rental Car software for Hertz NZ.
