About Gregory Jovanovic
Aerospace Engineering requires many skills; a few among them are problem-solving, ingenuity, analytical thinking, perseverance and dedication. I was able to practise and develop these skills during my research internship at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Space Propulsion Institute. Living and working in Germany, was an incredible opportunity where I was reliant on my interpersonal skills and my ability to successfully navigate unfamiliar surroundings and situations. Continuing my Engineering studies at the University of Toronto, I have also taken on the role of Chief Engineer, on the UofT Aerospace Team (UTAT). This leadership position requires project management including technical design, planning and oversight, and most importantly the ability to enable and encourage people to work together as a team.

• Leading a team of 40 students, (graduate and undergraduate) on design and development of hybrid rocket set to break record for highest altitude of Canadian amateur rocket • Project management: creating timeline and plan, delegating tasks, tracking deliverables and deadlines, mass budgeting, financial budgeting, ensuring safety and quality• As systems engineer, oversee seamless integration of 5 subdivision groups• Designed, budgeted and constructed team’s first ever 30 ft. launch rail• Designed and manufactured remote fuel line cutter enabling safer rocket launch

• Designed and implemented MATLAB program to eliminate noise in acoustical data from next-gen rocket nozzle tests supporting supervisor’s development of experimental dual-bell nozzle designs• Created additional functions to improve in-house MATLAB code for analyzing large amounts of Schlieren data to investigate extensive radial pressure gradients on supersonic nozzle shock systems• Designed rocket nozzle simulation using CFD software, ANSYS CFX, to predict the point of flow separation• Supported team members by developing Python scripts to adaptively plot large quantities of experimental data, and revising scientific papers
