My duties as a Storeman within the small parts store of Hydrasun are to pick stock from various locations as per details shown on the Voice Picking System. I package orders as per instructions on the picking list and within the company specific guidelines and apply the relevant labels to bags and or boxes. I work with the Despatch Department so that urgent requirements are prioritised. Other duties include helping customers at the Trade Counter with their enquires and sell them the appropriate goods, carry out Stock Checks as directed by the Stock Controller, promote housekeeping standards by ensuring all rubbish and debris is removed. Further to my duties as a Storeman, I also work as a Safety Representative which includes the promotion of Health, Safety and Environment in parallel with company Policies, ensure safe working practices and conditions, carry out weekly safety inspections and attend meetings both with management and other safety representatives.

As a Labourer within in Tenaris Hydril, I am heavily involved in the process of producing premium connections for offshore drilling. My main duties include Phosphating the newly cut connections which is a method of protecting steel from corrosion and increasing its resistance against the elements. I am also trained to do Peening which is the process of working a metal’s surface to improve its material properties. This is done using a shot blasting process similar to sandblasting. Other duties include the upkeep of the workshop and assisting the CNC operators as and when required.
