Efficient Networks became a market leader in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) products; its SpeedStream product line is used by carriers worldwide to deliver broadband Internet services. Annual revenue at Efficient Networks grew from $3 million in 1998 to over $200 million in 2000. Efficient had an initial public offering in 1999, led by Credit Suisse First Boston. After its IPO Efficient Networks raised over $800 million in follow-on equity and debt financing, and during 1999 and 2000 the company acquired Flowpoint, Network Telesystems, and MultiMedia Development. Siemens Information and Communications Networks acquired Efficient Networks in 2001, in a $1.5 billion cash transaction. Efficient Networks received its initial venture funding from Crosspoint Venture Partners, El Dorado Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Palomar Ventures. It also garnered corporate investments from ADC Telecommunications, Siemens AG and Texas Instruments. My responsibilities evolved throughout my tenure, and included:- Coordinating corporate product strategy across three divisions, and through acquisitions of three smaller companies.- Technical marketing and business development, targeting strategic customers and industry partners. - Identifying and assessing potential acquisition targets, performing technical due diligence, and assisting with post-acquisition integration.- Conducting market and competitive research.- Representing Efficient Networks at standards bodies. - Developing and presenting product/technology/application content at industry events and in technical analyst briefings.- Developing and presenting product and market information for investor relations, including earnings releases, SEC filings and financial analyst briefings. - Detailed product requirements definition and product line management.
