I am the Conservative Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre, elected on October 21, 2019 and re-elected on September 20, 2021. I am currently a member of the House of Commons Committee on Citizenship and Immigration; and have previously served on the Environment, Natural Resources and Finance Committees, and as the Natural Resources critic.Before being elected, I was a Chartered Investment Manager, registered as a Portfolio Manager with the Alberta Securities Commission, with career exposure on both sides of financial transactions -- as agent with bank-owned and independent investment banks / broker / dealers; and as an Investment Officer with merchant bank / family office, and with a Registered Investment Fund Manager.In addition to Portfolio Management experience, my career has provided exposure to investing in venture capital and private equity opportunities, including startups; and working with investee companies on strategic alternatives. Early in my career, I spent six years advising two Cabinet Ministers in Ottawa, providing me with insight into government and regulatory decision-making at the highest levels.I have extensive experience in assessing and selecting financial opportunities, deal sourcing, marketing, negotiation, execution, and relationship-building.
