 Lead a software development division of over 120 engineers that designs, builds, and maintains all software products for SMART Technologies on multiple platforms: Windows, Mac, embedded (Android), mobile (iOS and Android), Linux, and web(full stack development).  Centralized the development of key components and services to improve efficiency and create consistent experiences across platforms and products.  Facilitated an environment that encourages innovation by organizing a summit that gave the team the skills and knowledge to innovate in a focused manner. Led the efforts to improve usability and functionality of embedded platform that helped drives sales and adoption of our panels. Led the initial launch of SLSO which provided an online offering that quickly enabled teachers to create activities, assessments and lessons. Led the integration of mixpanel and uservoice into our product portfolio which enabled improved customer usage data as well as quicker and more concise user feedback. Provide mentoring and career development to both IC’s and Managers.  Reporting to the CTO responsible for leading the testing of all hardware and software for the entire company’s product portfolio. Lead a global organization comprised of 4 Managers and 60 individual contributors across various geographic locations. Responsible for leading all release management activities and data science initiatives within the software development organization. Established vision for software test organization and drive quality initiatives across all software and hardware test teams. Promote overall quality goals and achievements across the company and educated team members on software testing principles. Define overall testing strategy and test processes for new and existing product lines. Enforced well-designed and efficient automation and performance testing processes.

Manage the test dev organization focused on SMART's corporate offerings.

 Manage the test activities of 11 software test specialists geographically dispersed in Ottawa and China focusing on Process Management functionality within the LiveCycle product suite Ensured all test and release milestones were tracked and managed according to the project plans developed at the beginning of the release cycle. As certified scrum master was responsible for organizing and running sprint planning meetings, sprint retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups. Worked with team to ensure all impediments were removed in a timely manner in order for the goals of the sprint to be met.

 Manage the test activities of 7 software test specialists focusing on the localized versions of the Rim product set primarily BlackBerry SmartPhones and Playbook. Ensured all test and release milestones were tracked and managed according to the project plans developed at the beginning of the release cycle. Helped define localization development and software test process and ensured other development teams were aware of specific goals of localization development and testing. Responsible for creating an RFP to hire an external contracting firm to help with localization testing in languages where RIM did not have in house language expertise. Reviewed submissions, interviewed potential firms and ultimately was responsible for choosing the company that would help with the testing activities. Lead project Manager for localized versions of Twitter and Social feeds. As Liaison between development organization and translation firm was responsible for ensuring that all target languages were translated and tested in advance of the GC release milestone. Triaged all issues raised by internal testers, beta testers and translation firm and ensured they were resolved in a timely fashion.

 Responsible for all software development and testing activities for the Entrust Certificate line of business. Was responsible for replacing the legacy system with a brand new architecture using a SOA approach. Implemented an agile scrum methodology to be followed by the entire development and quality assurance team. As the scrum master was responsible for chairing daily meetings to ensure the project is progressing according to the agreed upon milestones. Manage a team of 8 developers and 4 quality assurance analysts. Triage all issues raised by development team and ensure they are addressed efficiently Main liaison into the customer support organization. Manage customer tickets and work with the development team to get them addressed in the current release or in a hot fix.

Responsible for leading the verification of the Entrust Entelligence product suite which includes Security Provider, Messaging Server, Compliance Server, GroupShare Server, Entrust Desktop Solutions, TruePass, Administration Services. Also manage the certificate services group which delivers software as a service.Manage the testing activities of 14 software test specialists and 3 team leaders.Provide technical and project management guidance to the test teams with regards to manual and automated testing.Evaluation of employee performance and recruiting of new team members.Established test policies and procedures with regards to testing direction for group.Create project plans, track test milestones and ensure all information is shared with development primes.Was responsible for creating a test team in India to help augment the test efforts being done locally
