Summit Station, Greenland

As a member of the five person winter crew, each member is responsible for the success of their projects and instruments. Summit Station is the only high latitude, high altitude arctic research station and keeping the instruments running and data being collected and transmitted was my responsibility.• Perform daily data and instrument checks on atmospheric sensors and equipment including radiometers, anemometers, aerosol counters, and ozone analyzers.• Collect weekly air samples for NOAA analysis.• Prepare and launch daily weather balloons with radiosondes for atmospheric data.• Operate a snowmobile for NASA satellite snow accumulation surveys over a 24Km route.• Coordinate with IT&C to solve any network issue that presented itself.• Facilitate weekly emergency response training for crew safety.• Attend to any medical needs or emergencies as needed and administer proper treatment and medication.• Prepare weekly NSF reports for current project and station updates.• Inventory all scientific equipment, both consumable and reusable, on station and its condition.• Perform all duties in weather dropping down to -70F and winds up to 50mph.

A member of a small team of 7 people working in remote environments of the Northern Alaska arctic tundra (Toolik Field Station and Utkiagvik) and taiga (Caribou Creek) , under varying weather conditions. Bringing samples back to the lab for processing, preserving, and analysis.• Perform multiple aquatic sampling techniques for electrofishing, discharge, dissolved gas, phytoplankton/algae, plant, macroinvertebrate, microbial, and other samples.• Provide routine and corrective maintenance of instrumentation and infrastructure for work sites and lab, including SUNAs, multi-Sondes, ADCP, and MF-Pro• Survey areas around sites using a handheld GPS, a Trimble, and HILTI POS 180 Robotic Total Station• Process, sterilize, preserve, and store samples for stable isotope and DNA analysis and shipment.• Pack and ship samples according to proper safety and hazard regulations involving dry ice and ethanol.• Assisted in small mammal trapping for population density and collection of blood, fur, and fecal samples for pathogen, DNA, and stable isotope analysis.

Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica

• Planned delicious, nutritious, and well-balanced meals based on the limited ingredients available. This included maintaining accurate inventory, labeling, and tracking of products in the galley. • Created and executed beverage menus regularly for spectacular bar experiences, which also involved bartender training for fellow crew members with little to no bar experience. Successfully created someof the best bar experiences South Pole Station has seen according to multiple returning winter-overs. • Was a critical member of both the Medical Emergency Response Team and High-Angle Technical Search & Rescue Team for nine months during the winter at the South Pole.

Worked independently to support scientists studying predator/prey interactions between tiger sharks, sea turtles, and herbivorous fishes in order to better understand how the presence of tiger sharks, and their impact on turtle and fish populations, affects the growth of the second largest seagrass bed in the world.• Collected samples (including fork and total length, blood, skin, and muscle) from Tiger Sharks caught on drum lines as well as tracked sharks with acoustic tags.• Gathered population information of small fishes using live traps in seagrass beds set using a Hookah diving system.• Responsible for data entry and organization of databases on Microsoft Excel for scientific analysis.• Caught and placed identification tags on Loggerhead Turtles for population research

Assisted in research on American Alligator tidal movement patterns in the Florida Everglades as well as nutrient levels based on stable isotope analysis of 13C : 12C and 15N : 14N ratios.• Captured American Alligators to take length measurements, blood and scoot samples, and stomach contents as well as attached acoustic telemetry tags on tails to monitor movements within the Everglades. • Calibrated and cleaned micro-scale in lab for more accurate readings of samples.• Responsible for safety training and orientation of all volunteers on proper boat etiquette, meticulous data collection, and alligator snaring technique.

The Bahamas

Worked on multiple projects with PhD students to collect and record data on juvenile grey snapper and spiny lobster movement and mosquito fish population, as well as set up artificial reefs for future studies.• Captured grey snapper within estuaries to measure total, fork, and standard lengths as well as implanted acoustic tags in juvenile grey snapper to track movements between high and low tides in the estuary.• Tagged lobsters with personal identification tags to track movements and populations between reefs.
