When I joined Ferrara Pan Candy Company in 1999, it was a $100M privately held company with three network servers. Ferrara Candy Company is now a $1 billion company after a 2012 merger made it the 5th largest candy company in North America.My contributions included creating and delivering the IT strategy and transitional architecture plan to support the business goals, streamline business processes, increase cost efficiency, and minimize risk. During the merger and creation of this $1B t/o global company, I headed the consolidation and opening of offices, distribution systems and data centers, and created the technology roadmap to synchronize disparate systems and sites on SAP. I cut the mobility budget by 50% with a 13% discount and a $100K maximum annual commit against mobile expense of c. $350K+. I also renegotiated contracts, and cut print costs by 20% ($60K annual) via consolidation of vendors and contracts.Further savings included >$500K from $7M budget via data center / workforce consolidations, and renegotiation of WAN/MPLS contracts enabling a lean IT staff to manage 12 worldwide locations.

During this period of my career, I led the company’s digital transformation and ensured the architecture was scalable and sustainable for the long- short term business strategy, and enhanced the customer experience that could be delivered via use of new technology.Highlights included reducing downtime from 48 hours to 4 hours by streamlining and documenting procedures, and systematically restructuring SAP upgrade implementation processes. I pioneered the use of iPhones/iPads prior to business adoption, enabling mobile SAP without laptops, and reduced data center costs by $50K+ via migration to VMWare, enabling flexible cost-efficient administration, enhanced disaster recovery and increased security.

During this twelve month period, I became the top revenue producing Consultant and took on added responsibility as Office Manager. I led a team of Technical Programmers, and coordinated networking and Exchange services to local colleges and businesses. I designed and personally implemented a system to migrate Rotary International from a Unisys mainframe to a Microsoft network with 100% success and 36-hour cut-over.

My career progressed from Programmer | PC Support | Networking Technician - supporting the Chicago Heights facility. I grew the department from one to a six-person team, implemented Novell to create the company's regional network, and played a key role in setting up and opening a new plant in Valparaiso. Additionally, I converted green-screen monitors to PCs, and trained staff on their operational functions.

My roots as a programmer. Under the tutelage of the sage Robert Beaird.Here I was promoted from Programmer and Database Manager to Senior Programmer - and ultimately to IT Manager. Successes included increasing productivity by a factor of 17 and completing a backlog of coding using Unisys 3GL LINC.
