Office based Initial Response Team that acted as the sole point of entry for all referrals to Social Care across the county. This was a fast paced, high intensity role where information was obtained and analysed in order to recommend an appropriate course of action. This involved maintaining excellent relationships with other agencies such as schools, police, legal teams, etc.

In this role I was responsible for managing a team of approximately 16 to 20 members of staff that included Social Work staff as well as administrative staff. I was responsible for ensuring that practice standards were high, developing members of the team, managing a budget, maintaining strategic links with internal and external partners and ensuring that the team was operating within the overall vision of the County Council.

I was a case manager in the Leaving & After Care team responsible for working with 16 to 21 year olds leaving the care system. This involved hearing young people's views, assessing their needs and supporting them to engage with partner agencies in order to plan for their future to ensure their needs were met. My practice adhered to the Children's Act of 1989, the Leaving Care Act 2000 and the SET Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures.
