Fire Support Officer, Bravo Company, 326Th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1St Bct, 101St Airborne Div
Arlington, Virginia, Us
Forward deployed, I was the Company Fire Support Officer and the Operations Officer for Bravo Company, 326th Brigade Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and now Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan. I coordinated and integrated helicopters, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), howitzers, and mortars for each mission our company goes out on. I also controlled these assets while out on missions. As the Operations Officer, I helped plan platoon, company, and battalion level operations, managed the company calendar with scheduling missions, and coordinated for additional assets for each mission. Successfully and safely called for fire while simultaneously de-conflicting the airspace and controlling OH-58Ds which verified and validated the BN defense plan for Kandahar Airfield with the use of howitzers and rotary wing aircraft. Planned all concepts of fires while also acting as a forward observer for 35 patrol missions. Resourced, coordinated, and conducted drivers training for over 100 Romanian soldiers, which was instrumental in the transition of Romanian forces to take over control of missions as our unit prepared to redeploy back to the United States. Planned the successful execution of 1 battalion level operation, 2 air assault operations, 1 high value target arrest, and over 20 combined arms route clearance operations. Rated by battalion commander as top 30% of all lieutenants in the battalion. Achieved a Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious service.
