Having completed nearly 10 years of academic study spread over several subjects, Gregor McIver is currently working toward a Doctor of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola Marymount University and a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. Gregor McIver's research on stem cell transplants for leukemia treatment was published in the Georgetown Medical School Library, and his work on medicinal therapies used to treat addiction in lab rats appeared in the Journal of Psychopharmacology.Gregor McIver demonstrates a tremendous capacity for compassion in his past and current endeavors. He has been helping children and war veterans learn to surf since 2003 as an instructor for Pure Surfing Experience and CampSurf in Manhattan Beach, California. McIver has also tutored adolescents and college students in a variety of academic subjects, including English, Spanish, Algebra, Geometry, History, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. In addition to designing lesson plans, he helped students complete their homework, prepare for exams, and write term papers.While studying abroad in Costa Rica, Gregor McIver attended to injured sea turtles at Parque Marino Animal Refuge in Puntarenas. He has also cared for individuals with mental disabilities at La Casa Grande in Santa Barbara, California. During this time, Gregor McIver helped to his patients integrate into society by escorting them to community events and Special Olympics competitions. Other humanitarian activities undertaken by McIver include volunteering with Isla Vista Youth Projects, Inc., and working with the Healing Hearts Across Borders nonprofit organization.In his free time, Gregor McIver takes part in a number of outdoor activities, such as surfing, fishing, and snowboarding. He also enjoys music and world travel.
