  • Leti
    Phd Student
    Leti Oct 2008 - Dec 2011
    Paris, France, Fr
My PhD was part of a joint research program between Leti (in Grenoble, France) and Caltech (in Pasadena, USA) centered on Nanosystems VLSI and my role consisted in designing mass or gas sensors using MEMS resonators. Leti is the most advanced research center on MEMS and electronics in France. My PhD work contributed to the creation of a start-up, APIX Technology (http://www.minatec.com/en/ressources/minatec/breve/apix-technology-brings-multi-gas-emissions-analyzers-mass-market) that designs gas sensors from nanomechanical cantilevers that can be used to monitor household air quality or for security applications. My research involves the electronic design for MEMS resonator (MEMS/CMOS 2D and 3D co-integration, stand-alone ASIC, discrete components). I have participated so-far at 2 journal papers (1 as first author), 10 conferences (including the prestigious ISSCC2012 as first author and MEMS2012) and 4 patents (pending).During my PhD, I have acquired experience in:• 130nm-integrated circuit design and layout (HCMOS9 from ST Microelectronics).• 2D and 3D NEMS/CMOS co-integrated design and layout(0.35 µm, 300nm, 30nm transistor’s length). They have been fabricated using SOI design kit from LETI or from ST.• Discrete electronic design and characterization.• Noise modeling and measurement.• Teamwork: 5 projects with over 5 colleagues per project.• International environment: alliance with Caltech (USA)• Scientific oral and writing skills: 2 publications, 10 conferences. My PhD thesis is available on the following link:http://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/docs/00/65/88/43/PDF/ARNDT_Gregory_thesis_vf.pdf
  • Leti
    Engineer Internship
    Leti Feb 2008 - Aug 2008
    Paris, France, Fr
During my master internship, I developed a novel characterization method in order to determine the piezoelectric coefficient using a pure electrical measurement. The associated characterization consisted in dynamic electrical and optical measurement of a PZT-microcantilever.The modeling involved material, electrical, physical and mechanical aspects. The characterization method was successful and was published in an international scientific journal.
  • E2V
    Engineer Internship
    E2V Jun 2007 - Sep 2007
    Chelmsford, England, Gb
Summer engineer internship in Chelmsford U.K. (next to London)The internship consisted into characterizing high performance and low light CCD sensors for imaging. The characterization involved optical and electrical measurement requiring solid state background.
  • University Of Bristol
    Undergraduate Final Year Project
University Of Bristol Oct 2006 - May 2007
    Bristol, Gb
The aim of my final year project was to control an PZE actuator through a micro controller. The technique to drive the PZE actuator has been given free. After rejecting the idea of using a feedback loop because of a too slow time response of the micro controller an physical modeling of the PZE actuator has been elaborated. The PZE actuator behavior has been approximated to a sum of simple hysteresis cycles in order to correct the hysteresis of the material through the micro controllerThe project provided microchip programming and physical modeling skills
