After an extensive 6 yrs mainly in Brisbane and now possessing an already sound knowledge base, Greg was offered a cadetship with an old carpenter friend and became a building supervisor. Greg supervised close to 1200 homes and even some commercial construction including Worongary shopping centre.Greg’s desire to expand his knowledge base soon led him into estimating as he had a growing desire to get into the back end workings of building a home and a more managerial role within an office.He worked for different companies doing estimating and project management and found estimating as interesting as it is important, “it’s pricing that makes or breaks a job.”From there, Greg provided a successful freelance project management service in South East Queensland to help set up building companies, getting construction up and running and systems in place.He saw how other start ups and existing companies were running and after 26 years has seen all the good and the not so good, “OHBS has taken all the good and incorporated into a successful business, doing it differently and doing it right.”Greg’s vision for the next 5 years is a refreshing standpoint, not being a materialistic person, he wants OHBS to be successful, and as Greg puts it, “the recognition in the industry is worth more than 200 houses on the board, big numbers and big staff do not excite me but, a manageable 20 homes per year and the recognition from happy clients and the industry does.”Greg notes his influences as his family upbringing, the way he’s been brought up is the way he runs his business, respect, loyalty and having a happy environment are all really important. “My father was a publican; he had this way of creating a good, honest environment where everyone enjoyed themselves.”What Greg loves most is simple, Building beautiful homes, handing over the keys to someone that really appreciates having their dream home built. “Yes it’s a job but more than a job, it’s a passion.”
